If you’ve spent enough time exploring Palworld’s more dangerous endgame zones, you’ve almost certainly heard rumors of Blazamut: the towering fire-type boss Pal that drops some of the rarest crafting materials in the game. But if you don’t know the exact path, figuring out how to get to Blazamut boss in Palworld can lead to hours of wandering through high-level zones, getting one-shot by unexpected alpha Pals, and wasting valuable resources. I’ve made this run at least 20 times while grinding for Blazamut’s drops to upgrade my base and craft endgame gear, so I’ve narrowed down the fastest, safest route, plus all the prep you need to survive the trip.
Critical Prep Steps Before You Attempt to Reach Blazamut
Blazamut spawns in the Volcanic Biome, one of the harshest areas in all of Palworld, so you can’t just wing this trip. Even if you’re only planning to reach the lair and not fight the boss right away, you need to come prepared to handle constant fire damage, aggressive high-level Pals, and rough terrain that slows down most ground mounts. Skipping any of these prep steps will almost certainly leave you respawning back at your base with a lost inventory.
- A level 40+ flying mount: Ground mounts get stuck on lava flows and rocky cliffs in the volcanic zone, so a fast flying Pal like Helzephyr or Quivern cuts travel time in half and lets you avoid most ground threats.
- At least two pieces of heat-resistant armor: The volcanic biome’s ambient heat will drain your HP every few seconds if you don’t have heat resistance, and you won’t have time to stop and heal constantly while traveling.
- 50+ fire-resistant feed items: Even with armor, you’ll take occasional fire damage from wild fire Pals and stray lava bursts, so having plenty of berries or cooked meat that grants temporary fire resistance will save you from unexpected deaths.
- An empty Palbox slot: If you decide to catch Blazamut after you arrive, you don’t want to have to release a valuable Pal mid-fight to make space.
You’ll also want to set a fast travel point at the Mount Obsidian Fast Travel Statue before you start this run. It’s the closest fast travel point to Blazamut’s lair, so if you do die along the way, you won’t have to travel all the way from your base to try again. I forgot to do this on my first run, and I spent 45 minutes trekking back to the volcano after an alpha Anubis one-shot me out of nowhere.
Exact Route to Get to Blazamut Boss in Palworld
Once you’re prepped and fast traveled to the Mount Obsidian statue, mount your flying Pal and face directly northwest. You’ll see a series of jagged volcanic peaks rising above the lava flows, and Blazamut’s lair is tucked into the largest of those peaks, hidden behind a narrow cave entrance that’s easy to miss if you’re flying too fast.
Fly at an altitude of roughly 200 feet above the ground to avoid aggroing the level 35+ alpha Magmights and Roaming Blazamut variants that patrol the lower slopes. If you fly too low, these Pals will lock onto you from hundreds of feet away, and their fire attacks can knock you off your mount mid-flight, sending you straight into a lava pool. I’ve had this happen three times, so trust me when I say altitude is your best friend here.
After about 90 seconds of flying northwest, you’ll spot a wide, flat rock ledge just above a large lava lake. Land on that ledge, and you’ll see the cave entrance to Blazamut’s lair directly behind it, marked by two large torch stands and a faint orange glow coming from inside. If you don’t see the ledge after 90 seconds, you’ve probably drifted too far west, so adjust your course slightly east and you’ll spot it quickly.
There’s no gate or lock on the entrance, so you can walk right in as soon as you find it. Just make sure you’re ready for the level 50 boss fight if you step too far into the cave, because Blazamut will aggro as soon as you cross the invisible threshold 10 feet inside the entrance. You can mark the cave entrance on your map as soon as you find it, so you can fast travel directly back to the nearby statue whenever you want to farm Blazamut for Blaze Cores and rare fire Pal eggs later.
Common Obstacles to Avoid Along the Way
Even with the perfect prep and route, there are a few common mistakes that trip up new players trying to reach Blazamut for the first time. These small mistakes are the reason so many players give up before they figure out how to get to Blazamut boss in Palworld, but they’re totally avoidable with a little foreknowledge.
The first big obstacle is the random alpha Tocotoco spawns that pop up on the volcanic slopes. Most players assume Tocotoco are low-level, harmless Pals, but the alpha variants in this zone are level 45+, and their explosive sonic attacks can one-shot you even if you’re wearing full heat-resistant armor. If you see one while flying, adjust your course at least 100 feet away to avoid aggroing it. They can’t hit you if you’re far enough away, and they won’t chase you if you don’t get too close.
Another common issue is flying through the volcanic ash clouds that drift across the biome every few minutes. These clouds drastically reduce your visibility, so it’s easy to drift into a group of aggressive Pals or straight into a cliff face without realizing it. If you run into an ash cloud, either stop and wait for it to pass on a high rock ledge, or climb to a higher altitude where the clouds don’t reach. It’s better to add a minute to your travel time than to crash and lose all your items.
You’ll also want to avoid landing anywhere near the lava flows, even if you think you see a shortcut. The ground near lava is unstable, and it will randomly burst with fire damage that can take out half your HP in one hit. Stick to the high, solid rock ledges if you need to land for any reason, and don’t step within 10 feet of the lava edge. Even fire-resistant Pals take damage from direct lava contact, so don’t risk it just to save a few seconds of travel time.
What to Do Once You Arrive at Blazamut's Lair
Once you step into the cave, you’ll be in a small antechamber before Blazamut’s main arena. This is a safe zone, so Blazamut won’t aggro you if you stay in this space. Use this time to double check your gear, restock your healing items, and summon any Pals you plan to use for the fight if you’re taking on the boss right away.
If you’re only here to unlock the location for future farming, you can place a Palbox just outside the cave entrance to create a temporary fast travel point. That way, you don’t have to make the flight from the Mount Obsidian statue every time you want to fight Blazamut. Just keep in mind that the Palbox will take a few minutes to power on, so you’ll want to defend it from any wandering Pals that spawn nearby while it’s booting up.
If you do decide to fight Blazamut right away, make sure you have at least two level 45+ water-type Pals in your party. Blazamut is weak to water damage, so Pals like Suzaku Aqua or Jormuntide will deal 2x damage and make the fight go much faster. You’ll also want to stay on the edges of the arena during the fight, because Blazamut’s AoE fire attacks cover most of the center of the room, and they can one-shot you even with full heat resistance.
One small tip I picked up after dozens of runs: you can collect rare fire Pal eggs from the small nests scattered around the edges of Blazamut’s lair before you start the fight. These eggs have a high chance of hatching into high-level fire Pals like Magmights and even Blazamut variants, so they’re well worth grabbing before you trigger the boss fight.
Blazamut is one of the most rewarding endgame bosses in Palworld, and the trip to its lair doesn’t have to be a frustrating slog if you follow the right steps. Take the time to get the right prep, stick to the recommended flight route, and avoid the common pitfalls we outlined, and you’ll have no trouble figuring out how to get to Blazamut boss in Palworld. Whether you’re here to farm rare crafting materials, catch a powerful fire Pal for your team, or just check off another endgame milestone, this route will get you there safely every time.
