How to Get Splatterina Palworld: Easy Step-by-Step Capture Guide

There are hundreds of Pals to collect across Palpagos Island, but few are as sought after for both base utility and combat power as the spooky, scythe-wielding dark-type. If you’ve been hunting for this rare Pal with no luck, you’re not alone: most players wander the wrong biomes for hours before figuring out the exact conditions needed to find and capture her. This guide cuts through all the misinformation online to show you exactly how to get Splatterina Palworld without wasting days of in-game time.

How to Get Splatterina Palworld: Exact Spawn Locations

First, you need to forget everything you’ve seen on random social media clips claiming Splatterina spawns in the snowy biome or regular forest areas. Those clips are either edited or using mods, and you’ll never find a vanilla spawn of Splatterina in those spots. Splatterina only spawns at night, and only in two specific areas across the entire map, so you can narrow your search down immediately.

The first and highest spawn rate location is Abandoned Mine No. 2, which sits on the border between the desert biome and the ash volcano biome. You can unlock the fast travel point near this mine once you reach level 25, so you don’t have to hike all the way across the map every time you want to search. You’ll usually find 1-2 Splatterina spawns near the back of the mine, right next to the large sulfur deposits. She is No. 87 in the Paldeck, so you can check your Paldeck entry to confirm you’ve found the right Pal if you spot a dark, hooded figure roaming the mine tunnels.

The second spawn location is the foggy mountain ridge north of the central plateau, but the spawn rate here is 70% lower than the mine location. I’ve only ever found one Splatterina here across 10+ hours of searching, so I only recommend this spot if the mine is being farmed by other players on a multiplayer server. Just make sure you don’t show up during the day: even if you’re in the right spot, Splatterina will not spawn as long as the sun is up. You can rest at a nearby campfire to skip straight to night if you arrive during daylight hours.

Pre-Capture Prep: Gear You’ll Need to Catch Splatterina

Even if you find Splatterina, you’ll almost certainly fail to catch her if you show up underprepared. She has a naturally low catch rate, and she hits surprisingly hard with her dark-type scythe attacks, so you don’t want to waste a spawn by being caught off guard. I’ve lost three Splatterina spawns early on because I only brought basic spheres and low-level Pals, so I’ve put together a list of everything you need to bring to guarantee success:

  • 10+ Hyper Spheres (or 5+ Ultra Spheres for 40% higher capture success rate)
  • 1 level 30+ Grass-type Pal with low-damage, single-target attacks to wear her health down without killing her
  • 1 support Pal with sleep or paralysis status effect moves to lower her capture resistance
  • Heat resistance armor if you’re searching the desert-adjacent mine locations, as temperatures there can drop your health fast
  • 1 stack of health potions for your Pals, in case Splatterina lands a critical hit that takes out your main battle Pal

Hyper Spheres or higher are non-negotiable here. I’ve tried to catch Splatterina with regular spheres more times than I can count, and I’ve never had a successful catch even when her health was in the red and she was asleep. Save yourself the frustration and craft a stack of Hyper Spheres before you head out; you can make them once you unlock the sphere crafting bench at level 28.

For your Grass-type Pal, I recommend using a level 30+ Dinossom with only razor leaf attacks equipped. It does just enough damage to wear her health down slowly, and it won’t one-shot her even if you land a critical hit. If you don’t have a Dinossom, any other grass-type around the same level will work, just make sure you unequip any high-damage AoE moves that might accidentally kill her or surrounding Pals.

Best Capture Strategy to Avoid Losing Splatterina

Once you have all your gear and you’ve found a Splatterina spawn, you need to follow a specific order of operations to maximize your chance of capture. Don’t just run in and start attacking with your strongest weapon; that’s the fastest way to either kill her or make her run away before you can throw a sphere.

First, sneak up behind her if you can, and send out your support Pal first to land a status effect. Sleep works better than paralysis here, as it stops her from attacking entirely while you wear her health down. If your status Pal misses the first move, don’t panic; just keep trying until the effect lands, and pull your Pal back if their health gets too low. Once she’s afflicted with a status effect, switch to your grass-type Pal and use weak attacks to get her health down to the red bar (10% or less remaining). Stop attacking as soon as her health hits that sweet spot, because any extra hit could kill her and make you wait for another spawn.

Once her health is low and she’s still afflicted with status, throw your Hyper Sphere immediately. Don’t wait for her to wake up, because her capture resistance jumps right back up once the status effect wears off. If the first sphere doesn’t work, throw another one right away: you usually only need 2-3 spheres if you followed the steps correctly. If she breaks out of three spheres in a row, you can throw one more status effect move to reapply sleep or paralysis before throwing more spheres.

If she runs away, don’t stress. Just walk out of the mine, rest at the nearby campfire until the next night, and walk back in. She’ll respawn in the same spot almost every time, so you can try again as many times as you need. On multiplayer servers, you might want to log on during off-peak hours to avoid competing with other players for the same spawn, as Splatterina is one of the most farmed Pals for her base utility.

What to Do With Splatterina Once You Catch Her

You might be wondering if all the effort to catch Splatterina is actually worth it, and the short answer is yes. She’s one of the most versatile Pals in the game, and she’s useful for both new players and endgame players alike.

Her biggest selling point is her work suitability: she’s a level 3 mining specialist, which means she can mine ore, coal, and sulfur 3x faster than most lower-level mining Pals. If you place 3-4 Splatterinas in a base near a large mining deposit, you’ll never run out of crafting materials again. I have four Splatterinas assigned to my volcanic base mining outpost, and they produce enough coal and sulfur for me to craft 100+ rockets and 500+ bullets every single day without any extra work on my end. They also have level 2 handiwork suitability, so they can help with crafting items at your base when they’re not mining.

She’s also a solid addition to your battle team, especially if you’re fighting against psychic or neutral-type Pals. Her signature dark-type scythe attack does 2x damage to psychic types, and she has high enough defense to tank hits from most mid-game bosses. If you breed her with a high-level Grizzbolt, you can get a rare Pal with both level 3 mining and electric-type attacks, which is perfect for both base work and combat. The only downside to Splatterina is that she’s weak to grass-type and fairy-type attacks, so you don’t want to use her against gym leaders or bosses that use those types.

You don’t need any special feed to keep Splatterina happy at your base, either. She eats the same regular berry feed as most other Pals, so you don’t have to waste time growing special crops or cooking fancy meals for her. Just make sure you have enough beds for her at your base, and she’ll work nonstop without any complaints.

Hunting for rare Pals can feel like a slog when you don’t have the right information, but Splatterina is 100% worth the small amount of prep work needed to catch her. If you stick to the mine spawn at night, bring the right gear, and follow the capture strategy we laid out, you’ll be able to get Splatterina Palworld on your first or second try. Once you add her to your team and your base crew, you’ll wonder how you ever managed to farm enough ore for your builds without her.
