If you’ve spent hours running around the desert biome hoping to catch a high-stat Anubis only to come away with low-level specimens with garbage traits, you’re not alone. I spent three frustrating nights chasing spawns before I figured out how to breed an Anubis in Palworld that outperforms every wild catch I’ve ever gotten. Anubis is one of the most useful pals in the game, thanks to its high-level mining, fighting, and transport stats, making it a staple for both early and late-game bases. You don’t need to waste dozens of spheres on random spawns either—breeding lets you pick and choose exactly the traits and stats you want, so you end up with a pal that fits your exact playstyle.
How to Breed an Anubis in Palworld: Prerequisites You Can’t Skip
Before you even think about putting pals in the breeding farm, you need to tick a few key boxes first. First, you’ll need to unlock the Breeding Farm structure at level 19, which requires 100 wood, 20 fiber, 50 stone, and 10 Pal Fluids to build. Next, you need to stock up on Cake, the required item for all breeding attempts—each time you pair two pals, you’ll use one cake to start the process. Cake requires flour, eggs, honey, milk, and berries to make, so you’ll want to set up a small farm for these ingredients if you plan on breeding multiple pals down the line.
You also need at least one male and one female pal that fall into compatible breeding groups for Anubis. If you don’t have any Anubis yet, you’ll need two parents that can produce Anubis as an offspring, which we cover in the next section. If you already have one Anubis, you can pair it with any pal from the Field or Dark breeding groups to get a high chance of another Anubis egg.
Best Parent Pairs for High-Percent Anubis Offspring
The biggest question most new players have is what pals to pair together to get Anubis, especially if they haven’t caught a wild one yet. We’ve tested dozens of pairs across 20+ hours of breeding, and these are the most reliable combinations, ordered by how easy they are to access:
- Anubis + Any Field/Dark Group Pal: If you already have one Anubis, pairing it with any pal in the Field or Dark breeding groups will have a 70%+ chance of producing another Anubis. This is the fastest method if you already have at least one specimen.
- Grintale + Cinnamoth: This pair has a 35% chance of producing Anubis even if you have no existing Anubis, and both pals are relatively easy to catch in mid-game biomes.
- Penking + Bushi: A popular early-to-mid game pair that has a 28% chance of spawning Anubis, with both parents available before you unlock the desert biome where wild Anubis spawn.
- Suzaku + Relaxaurus Lux: For late-game players, this pair has a 42% chance of producing Anubis, and often passes down high attack and work speed stats to the offspring.
If you already have one Anubis, your job is way easier. Pairing that Anubis with any other pal in the Field or Dark breeding group will give you a 70% or higher chance of getting another Anubis, so you can quickly breed an entire army of them if you want. Just make sure you pick secondary parents with traits you want to pass down, to make each new Anubis better than the last.
Tips to Breed an Anubis With Rare, Useful Traits
Getting any Anubis is great, but getting one with stacked rare traits will make it a total game-changer for your team and base. First, prioritize parents with traits that align with how you plan to use your Anubis: if you want it for mining, look for parents with Mining Speed Lv. 3, Artisan, or Strength Up. If you want a combat-focused Anubis, look for Attack Up Lv. 3, Swift, or Lifesteal traits.
You can reset breeding results by reloading your save if you don’t get the traits you want, just make sure you manually save right before you put the parents in the breeding farm. If the egg hatches with bad traits, reload that save and try again—you won’t waste any cake doing this, since the cake is only consumed when the breeding process starts.
Anubis eggs take roughly 10 minutes of in-game time to hatch, so you can work on base upgrades, explore new biomes, or farm resources while you wait for your egg to be ready. You don’t have to stand around the breeding farm the entire time, as long as you’re logged into the same save file, the timer will keep running even if you’re on the other side of the map.
Common Mistakes to Avoid When Breeding Anubis
I made a ton of mistakes when I first started breeding Anubis, so you don’t have to. The first big mistake is not checking breeding groups before you pair your pals. If you pair two pals that aren’t in the Field or Dark groups, you’ll never get Anubis, no matter how many cakes you throw at the breeding farm. You can check a pal’s breeding group in their stat page, right under their level and trait list.
Second, don’t use low-level parents for breeding. Even if you get an Anubis from two level 5 parents, its base stats will be 30-40% lower than an Anubis bred from level 40+ parents, so it’s not worth the effort long term. Spend a little time leveling up your parent pairs first, and you’ll end up with a far stronger Anubis.
Third, don’t ignore work traits in favor of only combat traits. Anubis is one of the only high-tier pals that excels at both fighting and mining, so passing down mining speed traits will save you dozens of hours of grinding for ore later on. Finally, don’t forget to leave space in your Palbox for the new egg. If your Palbox is full, the breeding process won’t start, and you’ll be stuck waiting for no reason.
Breeding your own Anubis takes a little bit of prep work, but it’s 100% worth the effort once you have a high-stat, trait-stacked specimen that can carry you through every part of the game. You don’t need to grind for hours in the desert chasing random spawns, and you can customize your Anubis to fit exactly what your base or team is missing. Once you learn how to breed an Anubis in Palworld, you’ll wonder how you ever played the game without one on your team.
